(02) Behind the record
“I wanted it to sound like walking home with your headphones on, when the street is quiet and the night isn’t quite over.”
— Luca Rowan
“Side Street” follows a familiar walk home after the night has ended. The route stays the same; the thoughts change with every turn. A repeating synth figure carries the track while the bass and drum machines give it a gentle forward motion.
Released ahead of Hours Between, the single is the first doorway into the EP. Alongside the studio version it gathers an extended mix for the clubs, a slower night-bus dub, an instrumental, a radio edit and a stripped-back acoustic take recorded at home.
